This article is not final. This is prepared on the
basis of my experience only, which are in effect in the month of February 2013.
All the things explained in this document are liable to change, which is not
under my responsibility. This article serves only brief information to those
who are interested to write MOH exam for Ayurveda in Oman. You have to verify
all the formalities on your own interest before applying for the exam.
Documents Required:
1. Curriculum Vitae
2. BAMS Certificate Original:
Attested from HR, MEA and Embassy of Oman
3. Experience certificate for 3 years in Original:
No need to attest
The period of internship is considered as
experience
Internship certificate of 1 year and
experience certificates of 2 years is enough
Certificates given from hospitals in their
letter head is more than enough.
4. Better to keep Attested Original
Certificates of 10th and +2 (12th)
5. Application form:
Available from the Ministry of Health, Oman
The copy of all the documents should be
submitted in the Ministry of Health Oman, along with the duly filled

The application is subjected to verification, and the
originals may me asked for the purpose at this time. After verification admission
slip for the written examination will be given with the exam date and time.
Syllabus:
All BAMS portions
Give special importance to Panchakarma
Examination:
The written exam for General practitioners,
Specialties, Alternate medicine and Dental are all held together in the same
date and place. Usually the number of BAMS doctors attending the exam is less
than five only.
The written exam consists of one paper of 100 marks in
2 hrs. It is divided in to two parts. Part I with10 MCQ for 50 marks and Part
II with 5 short notes for 50 marks. Each MCQ have 5 options against which you
have to mark ‘T’ for True or ‘F’ for False. And each option carries 1 mark.
There are no negative marks. For Short notes you will be provided for writing
pages attached with the question paper itself. Each question carries 10 marks.
The question paper will be collected back after the exams.
You have to score 70 marks out of 100 to pass
the exam.
Results will be announced one week after the exams in
the MOH Head Quarters.
Viva for the succeeded candidates will be held two
days after the results.
If you could not pass in the first chance of written
exam, you have to apply again for the second chance, which will be held the
very next month. And if you pass in written exam but failed in the first chance
of viva, you can attend the viva second chance after one week. But if you fail
in the second chance of viva too, then you have to repeat the whole process
again. That means you have to attend the written exam for second time. Each
month one written exam and two viva exams will be held.
There is a rule, which I am not sure about, that if
you fail in 2 consecutive written exams; you have to wait for 6 months to
appear again. So be prepared well before attending exams.
To be continued...

Dear Doctor Nizamudheen,
Hope you are doing good.
My name is sandeep & iam from Kannur in kerala. Iam a mechanical engineer working in Muscat, Oman.
Im getting married shortly & my future wife is an ayurvedic doctor (BAMS) & she has completed her internship. From your much helpful blog (http://nixz4u.blogspot.com/2013/02/oman-moh-ayurveda-exam.html) I understood that 3 years experience is a MUST to get registered with Ministry of Health in Oman.
She has completed her internship only, but has good academic record. Is there any other way that she can try and get the registration after she joins me here post marriage?
Please advise & thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Sandeep Prasanna.

Dear Dr. Wazed Hossan,
Ayurveda is in its toddler stage in Oman, and so there are a lot of chances in Oman.
The first hurdle is to obtain MOH Licence.
There are two main ways you can start working in Oman as an Ayurveda physician.
1. By running an Ayurveda Clinic at your own:
For this you have to first find a good sponsor in Oman, who knows the chances and benefits of Ayurveda, and is most cooperative with us. Also a good financial base is needed.
2. Is by working under the existing clinics.
For this you have to watch for vacancies arising in different clinics located in Oman. Apply to them, and once succeed you are there.
As per the latest info, am not sure about it, it is heard that,
GCC is planning to make unique exams for all its countries. So there will be common exam for all these countries. And also it will be online so that, the candidate can apply and write the exam from any where in the world. But this is not practical now. May be in the near future.
Dear Dr. Nizamudheen,
My wife is an ayurvedic doctor (BAM passed in 1984). She wish to write Oman MOH. Whether she can write from Trivandrum prometric centre or she has to go to Muscat. Is it enough if she register through prometric site ? Please reply.

Vijayan
